About Me
If you are reading this, there is a good chance you know me already, but just in case here some information.
My main interests are education and development research. This was something I developed while teaching in Nepal and helping to start the Nepal Wireless Project. I’m also working on my Ph.D. in comparative education at UCLA with John Hawkins as my dissertation advisor. My dissertation studies at the use of information technology for education in rural areas of Nepal. I’ve also worked as a consultant for UNESCO and several smaller NGOs in Kathmandu. Recently, I’ve begun a job as International Education Programs Coordinator at Relief International - Schools Online.
A slightly younger version of me at Pun Hill in Nepal
I’ve also enjoyed a career as a software developer in environmental instrumentation. I worked for MGD Technologies, Teledyne Isco, and US Cubed developing software that monitors and analyzes water flow data in real-time. While working at Teledyne Isco I spent several months in Bangalore, India at the offices of Mindteck.
I did my bachelor’s degree in music at UCSC, studying composition with David Cope and harpsichord/Early Music with Linda Burman-Hall before graduating in 2001.
Now I live in Los Angeles and spend most of my time between work, my dissertation, and my girlfriend. I still like to play the piano, cook (mostly Indian food), and travel when I get the chance.
